The gallery was founded 2013 in Budapest. We are representing artists from the CEE region – our profile ranges from neo-avantgarde to recent conceptually grounded practices.

Through its Swiss-Hungarian founders Patrick Urwyler (Art Historian, CH) and Boglárka Mittich (Sociologist, HU) Chimera-Project Gallery operates on an international level and is dedicated to a professional exhibition program that generates meaningful discourse in contemporary art. The gallery program reflects the roots of Hungarian neo-avantgarde and includes recent conceptually grounded artistic practices from Hungary and Central Eastern Europe.

Chimera-Project Gallery further contributes to international exchange in contemporary art between Budapest, the CEE region and beyond. Up until today, the international Chimera Art Award (est. 2014) as well as a curated thematic exhibition program, brought more than 80 international, upcoming artists and renowned art professionals to Budapest. We aim to strengthen the region by generating sustainable bilateral networks that connect to the international scene.
