Freymond Guth Basel
Opened in Basel in 2016 in a venue designed by Herzog & de Meuron
Contacts & Details
The gallery spaces’ brutalist architecture dates back to 1972 and has been used in the past 45 years as a storage to the Basel Department of Monument Preservation.
In 2016 the spaces are being renovated and its history re-interpreted for the future use as an art gallery by renown architects Herzog & de Meuron. The 850m2 spaces include exhibition spaces, as well as an artist flat that will enable artists and guests to develop site specific works over longer periods of time.
One 180m2 exhibition space will be dedicated to special curatorial projects in collaboration with guest curators and galleries. Located opposite Messeplatz, the new gallery spaces are in immediate vicinity to Art Basel and a short walk from Liste, at the centre of dynamic Klein-Basel.
