Mercedes Viegas, who studied museology, has been acting as fine arts consultant since 1988, and has opened her own gallery in 2002. By developing a careful work of dissemination and communication of Brazilian art, Mercedes Viegas Arte Contemporânea gallery gathers national and internationally renowned artists, at the same time as it invests in emerging talents. Every year, the gallery presents one group show and six solo exhibitions. Seeking to increase knowledge and debate on contemporary art, the gallery annually promotes courses with curators, critics and historians.
