The activity of the gallerist Mimmo Scognamiglio in the cultural life of Naples begins on december 1995 with the opening of the gallery “Scognamiglio e Teano”; the human and particularly visual experience acquired working with Lucio Amelio, for more than 10 years, allowed Mimmo Scognamiglio to outline a personal exhibition way. The space of his art gallery, has become an important reference for national and international artists with well-established esthetic experience and for many young artists.
Since November 2000, the gallery became “Mimmo Scognamiglio artecontemporanea” starting a vaste series of activities, planning many shows in public and private spaces, organizing meetings and seminars on art and culture and cooperating with avant-garde publishing houses and curators.
In june 2007 Mimmo Scognamiglio opens the doors to his new exhibition area in Milan with a new solo show by Antony Gormley, one of the most significant contemporary artists of international fame. “Spacetime” opens up an area of 200 square meters in Corso di Porta Nuova, on the first floor of a building housing several other creative enterprises, destined to become a fresh, new hub for art lovers. In September 2011 he moves again in the spaces of Via Ventura, 6 in Lambrate where toghether with others galleries create a new art quarter in Milano.
In november 2015, the gallery decided to return to Brera and reside in via Goito, 7, where the space was inaugurated with the exhibition displaying the past twenty years of the gallery’s existence.
