Founded in 2010 by Fabio Cimino, Zipper is an art gallery that presents new artists to the market.
Contacts & Details
Fabio Cimino started his career in 1983 as an art advisor and marchand. In 2010, he opened Zipper Galeria, focused on the prospecting and promotion of works by emerging and mid-career Brazilian talents into the market so that a new generation of artists may be consolidated.
To unite the same generation of artists and collectors is one of Zipper‘s main purposes, an agile and welcoming gallery, which helps to expand the Brazilian art market by encouraging the establishment of new audiences and new art creators. In 2011, an experimental exhibition space called Zip’Up was inaugurated to host, each month, a new show planned by young independent curators who are stimulated to show artworks by emerging artists, from inside or outside of the gallery, according to their curatorial proposal.
Zipper is moreover a meeting point for contemporary artists focusing on various platforms: painting, sculpture, photography, video, drawing, installations, prints and new media. Zipper also understands its role as a cultural agent, donating artworks to museums and institutions, providing public free entrance to exhibitions every month, and gratuitously distributing catalogues of all of them.
