Contacts & Details
The Aurora Museum is officially opened in October 2013, with a floor space spanning a total 6316 square meters. The Aurora Museum is committed to the preservation and transmission of, and contribution to Chinese history and culture. At the same time it is in conjunction with Peking University’s School of Archaeology and Musicology, promoting the study of antiquities. The Aurora Museum exists to pass on the historical heritage, providing the general public with a new forum in which they can appreciate and learn about works of art or simply come to enjoy a day out.
The Aurora Museum, designed by the renowned architect Ando Tadao, features a glass curtain wall structure, with simple, clean geometric lines that, when illuminated at night, creates the impression of a stately, assuredly unassuming sapphire curio box set amongst the dazzling night lights of Huangpu district. The structural use of space forms an engaging, dramatic backdrop for the exhibits.
