Casa da Imagem, a museum dedicated to São Paulo-themed photography, opened in 2012 on the site of Casa No. 1, named for its original address in 1689. The building is a venue for exhibitions and the new home of the city’s photography archives. With over 700,000 images, it aims to promote the photography collection, stimulate research and the development of new projects in iconographic documentation and is part of the São Paulo City Museum (Museu da Cidade).
