DUCTAC is a multitasking cultural center presenting and hosting a programme of events and participatory activities for Dubai’s many multi-national communities and visitors.
The Theatre & Arts Centre is the first modern, non-profit, cross-community creative centre in the Gulf.
The DUCTAC hosts the Gallery of Light, a large, contemporary art gallery space curated by Dubai-based English artist Simon Coates. The gallery is dedicated to working with under-represented, emerging and established artists and curators, and to exhibiting arts practice that is evolving and experimental. The space plays host to all genres of contemporary art including painting, print work, digital art, experimental film and video, sound art, sculpture, design work and more.
The gallery has held exhibitions featuring 2013 UAE Venice Biennale artist Mohammed Kazem, Hassan Sharif, Ebtisam Abdulaziz, William Kentridge, Sara Al Haddad, Manal Al Dowayan, Tarek Al Ghusein and Ephrem Solomon, amongst others.
The Gallery of Light is operated on not-for-profit principles putting all income received from sponsorship or rental hire back into its cultural arts programming, educational outreach and the welcome of all visitors.
DUCTAC‘s aim is to contribute to the creative and cultural development of Dubai by presenting and hosting a varied programme of events and initiatives. Performances, exhibitions, classes and workshops take place at DUCTAC every week, providing entertainment and education for the region’s multi-national community and visitors alike.
