Non-Profit

Etc Gallery

Established in 2004, it was one of the first independent exhibition spaces of that kind in Prague.

Sarajevská 16

Etc Gallery is a non profit art space for contemporary art. The programme was formed by joint efforts of artists Jiří Skála and Jiří Franta. From the very beginning they succeeded in creating a programme that made it possible to present many important exhibitions to the Czech art scene. In 2007, the team was joined by a curator Markéta Vingerlová. In 2011 both founding members of the team decided to dedicate their time to other activities and handed the gallery management over to Markéta, who was then joined by an artist Radim Langer and Tereza Stejskalová, a curator active in the gallery until 2013. Martin Prudil, an artist, then took her place.

Up to now, the activity of the etc gallery continuously focused on presenting primarily young art from both the Czech and international scene. Having moved to a new exhibition space in the street Sarajevská 16, the gallery broadened its focus from hosting solo exhibitions to organizing larger group exhibitions as well. All the exhibitions emphasize theoretical reflection of the art on display and in essence they stand somewhere between traditional exhibitions and symposia. The gallery aims to create a functioning confrontational space through lectures, seminars and art presentations.
