Hit Gallery

HIT Gallery is located on Hviezdoslav’s square where the Slovak National Theater is based. Activities of the gallery facilitate confrontation of both professional and wider public with actual trends of contemporary visual art. Their aim is to dynamize local art-scene and also to stimulate intercultural and international exchange motivating formation of new projects. Our main aim is to broaden awareness of contemporary art in Slovakia and surrounding countries, cultural exchange, creation of platform for discussion about various discourses in central-european contemporary art and also realisation of projects in cooperation with broader theoretical sphere with generational overlaps.

HIT Gallery offers young artists and curators (Slovak, foreign or in cooperation) the possibility to apply for the programme of short exhibitions changing in a three-week interval. Being accessible to wide range of applicants, however, the gallery tends to concentrate above all on projects reflecting the newest artistic and theoretical strategies. Beside the exhibition activities, the gallery will also organize activities with wider sociocultural impact, as for example requalification centre for artists or alternative currency.
