Cripta747 Residency Programme 2018: Andrew Wagner and Gernot Wieland Open Studio

CRIPTA747, via Quittengo 41 BIS,

Cripta747 opens the doors to the public for artists Andrew Wagner and Gernot Wieland’s open studio, as completion of their residency period.

Taking place from November 1-16, 2018, the open studio presents the results of the artists’ researches, conducted throughout important institutions of the city of Turin, namely museums, archives and libraries. Both of them, for the occasion, had the chance to study the documents from Lombroso’s archive and the Library of the Gramsci Institute, a former psychiatric hospital.

Wagner’s research digs in the past to uncover the psychology of both reactionary and revolutionary political movements and the role of the unconscious in the formation of people’s political feelings. Wieland investigates psychological conditions: for the open studio he presents some pictures documenting a project conducted in the early 80s,  in collaboration with psychiatric patients, to perform a theatrical version of “The Birds” by Alfred Hitchcock.

In addition to the open studio, Cripta747 Residency Programme dedicates to the public a series of events.
