Pivô’s Annual Auction

From November 23 to 28, Pivô promotes the fourth edition of its traditional Annual Auction, during which will be auctioned more than 70 works by established and emerging artists from the Brazilian and the international contemporary art scenes. This event – for which Pivô will open exceptionally on Monday 23rd from 1pm to 8pm – aims to fundraise for the maintenance of the institution’s space and program, that comprises a great number of exhibitions, artistic residencies and already supported projects from more than 200 artists since 2012. Initial bids begin at 50% of the market value of the works. Bids can be placed during two weeks through the American online auction platform “Paddle 8” or personally at the closing event on November 28th, at Pivô.

In an unprecedented initiative in Brazil, Pivô establishes a partnership with the American online auction platform Paddle 8. The platform has a network of 500,000 collectors in its database and focuses primarily on charity auctions of prestigious institutions of art and philanthropy like Guggenheim, Palais de Tokyo and Drawing Center. Through this partnership, Pivô’s Annual Auction significantly expands its network of supporters and discloses internationally the donated works.

To be involved in Pivô’s Annual Auction, the participants need to fill a registration form which will be available at Pivô or register in Paddle 8 website. Participants can leave their bids at any time in the website or in person on the day of the event. The wall-auction is characterized by the lack of an auctioneer. Unlike a conventional auction, the bids are marked directly on the wall, next to the work, using a system corresponding to bids in the value of USD 50. The bids received by Paddle 8 will be transferred to the wall on the closing event, and added to the bids received in person on this occasion. The event will end at 10pm, when the final bids will be registered by Pivô’s and Paddle 8’s team.

This occasion also celebrates the closure of Pivô’s 2015’s program. All visitors will be invited to contribute with an admission fee (R$40 during presale at the reception of Pivô or R$50 on the day of the event) to attend the celebration and auction which will feature DJs, an open cocktail and a surprise pocket show at the end of the auction bids.
