The Garden of Forking Paths

Organised by MASS Alexandria and part of the 5x5x5 schools programme of Manifesta 12, The Garden of Forking Paths is a program in the fields of contemporary art and architecture and activism that invites five former MASS students and five emerging artists from Sicily to explore the infrastructures, structures and sites, to then develop a possible presentation of the research together. While the first part of the programme – to be organised by Berit Schuck and directed by artists, architects, archivists and activists – will take the form of a summer school, the second part will be organized by Wael Shawky and will take the form of an exhibition.

The artists selected for the program are Asmaa Barakat, Marianne Fahmy, Fathi Hawas, Nardeen Nabil, Assem A. Hendawi (Egypt), Gabriele Abbruzzese, Vanessa Alessi, Fabrice Bernasconi and Carmelo Nicotra (Sicily)
