Adam Shiu-Yang Shaw: ‘Clerks’ Quarters: Can There Be Forgiveness?

Ashley Berlin, Oranienstrasse 37

Clerks’ Quarters: Can There Be Forgiveness? is the title of the show by artist Adam Shiu-Yang Shaw at Ashley, Berlin. The show constitutes the second iteration of a new exhibition platform by artist, with the first one being a one-night performative event occurred at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in March 2018.

This second chapter presents itself as an extension of that punctual event featuring a one-month programme of performances as well as an off-site public work at street level, in collaboration with the exhibition vitrine SOX. Merging a material enduring setting and performance, Shaw enacts dichotomies between exteriority and interiority, creating a scene that oscillates between public plaza, private confessional, and museum display.
