After landscape, abstraction

Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil – MACG, Av. Revolucion 1608, San Ángel Delegación Álvaro Obregón

Although Carrillo Gil chose from the mid-fifties the abstract language and favored the artists featured in this exhibit, his predilection focuses on specific periods where the artists make concrete connections with a figurative source: the landscape. “After landscape, abstraction” [Después del paisaje, la abstracción] exhibits the works of Gunther Gerzso, Wolfang Paalen, Luis Nishizawa, Kishio Murata and Mathias Göeritz belonging to Dr. Álvar Carrillo Gil’s collection, creators who, in the language of abstraction, coincide not only in time, but in the inclusion of the contemplation of the landscape as a pictorial resource in their discourse.
