Al Norte de la Tormenta: from Robert Rauschenberg to Juan Muñoz

The collective exhibition “Al Norte de la Tormenta” at MAXXI museum in Rome gathers masterpieces from the collection of IVAM, Institut Valencià d’Art Modern, one of the most important modern art museums in Spain.
The display opens a dialogue between the collections of the two cultural institutions, which will be further developed in Valencia in 2020, when a MAXXI Collection focus is going to be hosted at IVAM.

Named after the 1986 work by the Spanish artist Juan Muñoz, “Al Norte de la Tormenta” (North of the Storm) features more than 50 artworks by great masters of the contemporary art scene, both Spanish and international. The artists included, such as Antoni Tàpies, Robert Rauschenberg, Bruce Nauman, Eduardo Chillida, Tony Cragg, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Richard Tuttle, Cristina Iglesias, Eulalia Valldosera, highlight the coexistence in the Spanish culture of two opposite dimensions, one open and warm and another more intimate, dark and mysterious.
