Counterspace: Serpentine Pavilion 2021

The 2021 Serpentine Pavilion has been designed by Counterspace, the Johannesburg-based practice directed by Sumayya Vally. The youngest architect ever chosen for this internationally renowned architecture programme, she collected inputs from different London neighbourhoods. She drew inspiration from past and present places of meeting, organising and belonging throughout Brixton, Hoxton, Peckham, and others, significant to diasporic and cross-cultural communities.
