Bárbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca: Estás Vendo Coisas

Pérez Art Museum Miami – PAMM, 1103 Biscayne Blvd., Downtown

Artists Bárbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca present their video work Estás vendo coisas” (You Are Seeing Things) at Pérez Art Museum Miami – PAMM.
The video clip focuses on “Brega”, an underground music genre made of the combination of romantic melodies, American Hip Hop, Brazilian techno, and Caribbean reggaeton. Initiated in Brazil, nowadays the “Brega” avails itself of advanced production strategies thanks to the improvements in technology; as a consequence, its visibility is rapidly increasing beyond the favelas, amongst the middle classes.
Wagner and de Burca’s work, dating back to 2016, is scripted and performed by real members of the Brega’s musical scene. It tells the story of two characters making their way towards the stage environment, permeated through the end by a psychological and nostalgic tone.
