Edgar Orlaineta: Su nariz esta roja (artesania asistida)

Federico Luger gallery in Milan is pleased to announce the second solo exhibition ‘Su nariz esta roja (artesania asistida)’ (His nose is red. Assited craft) by the world renowned Mexican artist Edgar Orlaineta (Mexico City, 1972), who will present a new series of wooden sculptures and works on paper.

Inspired by the works of some well-known design icons of the twentieth century, the artist transforms and reinterprets them in his own style, giving them a reading, which is often surprising and intriguing. His method of manipulation with the objects he creates require a high level of manual and technical skill.

For this exhibition Edgar takes inspiration from Pinocchio. The Mexican artist likewise becomes an inventor of sorts who, with fervent desire attempts to give life to his work of arts using his skills as a craftsman. The story of Pinocchio represents for Edgar a point of departure for the relations one can establish between craftsmanship, design and art.
