Eduardo Stupía: Scenes from a Journey
Scenes from a Journey, the latest exhibition by Argentinian Eduardo Stupía (b. 1951, Buenos Aires), comprises works created in São Paulo, inspired in the Barra Funda neighborhood, where the gallery is located. The canvases painted by Stupía, who is renowned for his drawings of utopian architectural forms, are more revealing of the artist’s perception than of the geographical displacement, as Stupía believes that every physical and territorial change implies emotional changes.
The colors are the most visible influence on Eduardo Stupía’s stay in the neighborhood. Their presence, vibration and temperament have a much greater importance in this series than in his most recent works. In general, his production is predominantly composed of black and white delicate and yet intense paintings. He explores the idea of “imaginary landscapes”, created with materials such as pencil, acrylic, graphite, watercolor and ink.
