“Enigmas”, by Vera Chaves Barcellos (b. 1938, Porto Alegre) is an installation built as a sort of laboratory, composed by photos, images, fossil, skin pieces and salt boxes. For curator Bernardo José de Souza, the exhibition revolves around ontological questions that will never cease to arouse men’s curiosity and make the scientific knowledge move forward; according to Souza, the artist investigates human natures and, therefore, the origin of life.
The exhibition is a joint venture between Vera Chaves Barcellos Foundation andCentro Municipal de Arte Hélio Oiticica. The project, financed by FUNARTE, marked the opening of Vera Chaves Barcellos Foundation in 2005, in Porto Alegre.
