This exhibition gathers part of the research developed by Antônio Ewbank (b. 1983, Franca, Brazil), Janaina Wagner (b. 1989, São Paulo), Julio Parente (b. 1988, Rio de Janeiro), Maura Grimaldi (b. 1988, São Paulo), Martin Reiche (b. 1988, Berlin) and Tomaz Klotzel (b. 1979, Pelotas, Brazil) during the four months of the 11th edition of Red Bull Station’s residency program.

The works occupy both galleries of the building and some of the six studios. For the curator Fernando Velazquez, the exploration of light is a recurring element in all exhibited productions, that include projections, sculptures and installations. Julio Parente, for instance, explores light as the essential constructive element of pieces created with video mapping and sound and explore the contrasts between natural and artificial.

The curator also points the ethnographic profile of the investigations as another point of contact between the artworks: Maura Grimaldi visited the spiritual centre coordinated by spiritist medium João de Deus at Abadiânia (state of Goiás), where she collected images for works that investigate the concept of projected image. Tomaz Klotzel presents an installations and photographs that explore the passage of time, pieces created after an exploration of the countryside of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where he collect archaeological material and recorded the night sky.

Janaina Wagner and Antonio Ewbank approach the labyrinths of language, revealing underlying the subjectivity in our relations with the world and with the otherness by appropriation and re-contextualization of material from several sources, especially the internet. Finally, the German Martin Reiche uses power breakers and wires to comment on the invisibility of digital systems and its political, ethical and aesthetical consequences.
