On the occasion of the 90-year anniversary of Domus, the Fondazione Sozzani presents in Milano Domus 90. Gio Ponti, in conjunction with Miart and Salone del Mobile 2018.
Gio Ponti was both the founder and director of Domus for more than forty years, excelling as a designer and an architect on many different levels. There exists a plethora of texts on his work. The show reveals proposals and presentations from the archives on houses he designed throughout his career and the furnishing of their interiors.
Gio Ponti’s concept of space is attributed to by his meticulous attention to the most minute details in an environment, he designed everthing from the dishes, vases, furniture to the chairs,also the fabrics, postcards, and covers. Ever exploring the potential of materials, from paper to glass, to the “skin” of a building. This exhibition highlights Gio Ponti’s vast and differing skill-set, using the Domus Archives to trace the development of a figure who’s extraordinary design ability still inspires our imagination today.
