Herbert Hamak: At the end of the rainbow

In occasion of the Fuori Salone circuit during Salone del Mobile, the Veronese gallery Studio la Città will present a solo show within the temporary space Doubletrouble95, located in the Naviglio area.

The solo show by German artist Herbert Hamak depicts the development of his artistic career – from his birth and early steps as an artist, his studies of colour and various techniques, to defining himself as a painter. The exhibition’s title does not only refer to its content of following the artist’s path, but in fact to the key work of the show, a large multi-coloured installation, conceived for invading the refracted light of the exhibition space, just like a rainbow.

Being inspired by an ancient Irish legend saying that one can find a secret treasure at the end of a rainbow, Hamak uses this metaphor to draw a comparison towards a life’s journey. Every path is made of various obstacles, decisions and alternatives, such as the colours of a rainbow. They exists but not everybody is able to see or believe in them. In order to conclude and leave things behind to develop and grow, one has to set oneself specific goal as well as follow desires, just as the secret treasure at the end of a rainbow. For Hamak, this treasure is finding oneself.
