Filipe Branquinho (b. 1977 in Maputo. Lives in Maputo, Mozambique), Zed Nelson (b. 1965 in Kampala, Uganda. Lives in London), Tahir Carl Karmali (b. 1987 in Nairobi, Kenya. Lives in New York City), Zied Ben Romdhane (b. 1981 in Tunis. Lives in Tunis Ariena, Tunisia), Romaric Tisserand (b. 1974 in Toulouse, France. Lives in Paris) are the winners of the international photography 2015 competition POPCAP.

The award aims to foster interest in and support for contemporary African photography. The winning works are exhibited at Image Afrique in Basel, Switzerland, from June 13th to June 25th at the POPCAP exhibition in cooperation with LagosPhoto Festival, Nigeria, and the POPCAP exhibition at the FIFCV Festival Internacional de Fotografia de Cabo Verde, among others.

POPCAP, the piclet.org prize for contemporary African Photography is being held for the fourth time in 2015. It is directed at artists who deal with photographic content relating to the African continent and/or its diaspora. POPCAP aims to raise the profile of African photography within the art world and provide more publicity for artists who engage with the African continent. The current edition received submissions from 700 artists from 58 countries, 45% of which came from African countries – an of 7% since the 2014 edition. The five winning works were selected online by an internationally-sourced 19
person panel of judges.
