Jia Aili: Combustion

Gagosian gallery, at West 21st Street, New York, host the exhibition dedicated to Chinese artist Jia Aili , titled “Combustion”.

Born in Dandong, China, in 1979. he currently lives and works in Beijing. Recent solo exhibitions include “The Wasteland”, Platform China Contemporary Art Institute, Beijing (2007); “Make Believe . . . “, Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts), London (2010); “Good Morning, World!”, He Xiangning Art Museum OCT Contemporary Art Terminal, Shenzhen, China (2010); “Seeker of Hope”, Singapore Art Museum (2012); “Jia Aili”, Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi, Venice (2015); and “Jia Aili”, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga, Spain (2017).
He participated in the collateral events of the 54th Biennale di Venezia, Venice 2011.

His landscapes merge contemporary elements with a traditional figurative style, representing inner and private sceneries, rather than describing real ones. They are often permeated with a melancholic feeling, expressing the artist’s concerns with a world increasingly connected but marked at the same time by a growing sense of loneliness.
