Jorge Carruana Bances: Hi-ro-shi-ma

Curated by Suset Sánchez, the exhibition features a series of works on cardboard and paper made at the beginning of the eighties, in which the artist appropriates the Japanese erotic prints by of the XVII-XX centuries.

Carruana revisits the antimilitarist and pacifist thinking of the hippie counterculture, and his erotic stamp appropriations of the Japanese graphic tradition make direct allusions to passages of modern history such as the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
