Lake Verea: Paparazza Moderna

Vitra Design Museum

02 Feb 201907 Jul 2019

Vitra Design Museum Gallery presents the first solo exhibition of Mexican artist duo Lake Verea, Francisca Rivero-Lake and Carla Verea, in a European museum with their 24 works, including photography and a video. For their ongoing Paparazza Moderna project, Lake Verea create poetic portraits of single-family houses designed by renowned modernist architects such as Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer, Richard Neutra, Rudolf M. Schindler, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Philip Johnson. With the aim of capturing them in an unembellished, private state, they approach these buildings like paparazzi – unannounced and spontaneous – during their journeys throughout the USA between 2011 and 2018.
