Marcel Dzama: Drawing on a Revolution

La Casa Encendida, Ronda de Valencia, 2

The exhibition is an opportunity to discover the personal universe of the Canadian artist through his drawings, dioramas, sculptures and video work.
Marcel Dzama (Winnipeg, Canada, 1974) is inspired and influenced by the work of Marcel Duchamp, Goya, Francis Picabia or even Hieronymus Bosch. The result is extremely original and recognizable. Some of his ink and watercolour drawings portray dark creatures that emerge from a singular inner world: figures taken from popular tales and stories, comic books and television appear next to XIXth-century soldiers, XXth-century terrorists, invented animals, ballet dancers and opera singers.
