Michael Smith: ¡Imagina La Vista Desde Aquí!

Under the current circumstances of the delicate political and economic climate, particularly between Mexico and USA, the artist presents the work  “¡Imagina La Vista Desde Aquí! (Imagine the View from Here!)“, specially commissioned for Gallery 1 of the museum. In it, his longstanding alter ego named Mike experiments visiting a possible timeshare located within the Museo Jumex, which promotes a contemporary lifestyle, in respect to others expatriate communities of San Miguel de Allende. The artist investigates everyday situations such as aging, failure and enthusiasm, through bitter humour in contraposition with the aspirational images promoted by corporate and institutional cultures.
