On Documentary Abstraction

ArtCenter South Florida

30 Sep 201717 Dec 2017

“On Documentary Abstraction” is a survey on visual abstraction and the rich historical connections between politics and abstract art: the works on display examine the history of lynching in the southern United States, civil rights legislation, and labor exploitation in the 20th century, and how artists are using abstract painting and sculpture to document, discuss and revisualize recent history.
