(RED) Auction

On the occasion of Art Basel Miami Beach 2018 and Design Miami 2018, Gagosian presents a public exhibition of contemporary art pieces. The event, occurring at the Moore Building, in the heart of Miami’s Design District, is the preview of the third (RED) auction, taking place on December 5th in the same location, under the co-curatorship of artist Theaster Gates and architect Sir David Adjaye. Organised also by the singer Bono, the auction is the third appointment in a series of art sales launched by the charity organisation created in 2006 by the pop star and Bobby Shriver to promote the fight against HIV and AIDS.

The pieces, to be auctioned by Sotheby’s,  are donated by several internationally artists, such as Jeff Koons, Ai Weiwei, Wangechi Mutu, Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson, Christo, Sean Scully, Marilyn Minter, Frank Gehry, Guillermo Kuitca and Teresita Fernández, among others. Sir David Adjaye and Theaster Gates created unique pieces for the sale, too. The collection revolves around the themes of “light” and red colour, the main symbol of the charity foundation.
