“Lady Mystery & the others” is an exhibition conceived and realized by Rosemarie Benedikt, curated by Cristina Fiore and Andrea Penzo and produced by Berengo Studio 1989 which collaborates with the artist for over ten years.
While contemporary art often focuses on shapelessness and ugliness, Rosemarie’s work seems to contrast this aspects. Adriano Berengo states: “Rosemarie is a truly admirable example of what artistic endeavors can produce, whilst maintaining a strong foothold in the dimensions of beauty, joy and irony, without detracting from the intellectual brilliance and profound thought behind her works of art.”
On show a series of heads reverberating Venetian Carnival, “a sequence of shapes that guides us from animals to heads, from heads to masks, from masks to what they simultaneously hide and reveal” as the curators declare.
The Austrian artist’s work is disseminated by fairy-tale memories, natural and animal world, “translating her fantasy creatures (Fabelwesen) from her vivid mind into shiny colours and glass beauty with the highly appreciated support of the masters of glass blowing” as Alexandra Terzic says.
