Ayyam Gallery Al Quoz presents “Illuminated Space”, a solo show featuring a new series of abstract paintings by the New York-based artist Samia Halaby. In the creation of the displayed artworks, the artist reveals her interest in biomorphic forms and urban environment, approaching to the concept of luminosity based on the “relative saturation” that is found in the abstract paintings of Mark Rothko and Ad Reinhardt.
Alongside a series of drawings from a long-standing project that led to her most recent publication “Documentary Drawings of the Kafr Qasem Massacre”, also on view at Ayyam Gallery Al Quoz, “Illuminated Space” covers this overview on the artist’s practice.
