Soraya Abu Naba’a
Gary Nader Art Centre presents Soraya Abu Naba’a – Recent Work. The exhibition will feature select pieces from the artist’s “Visual Biographies” and “Mnemonics” Series.
Soraya Abu Naba’a’s graphic works are a precursor to pictorial compositions that combine aesthetic value, psychological study, and the social sense. Naba’a introduces color and other structural components in various formats and levels.
“Soraya Abu Naba’a defies conventional drawings and paintings, breaking with Hegelian beauty and producing other forms of beauty – both disturbing and seductive,” said Marianne de Tolentino, art critic, curator and the Director of the Galeria Nacional de Bellas Artes, Santo Domingo. “However, she maintains the academic standards through a dominated anatomy, a rigorous format, a detailed process and a clearly defined ending.”
