Zhao Yuzhong: Cherishing Everything & Mirroring Life

Titled “Cherishing Everything and Mirroring Life”, this exhibition showcases Zhao’s creations which stem from the Chinese philosopher Mo-Tse’s teachings of being economical. Such complete recycling efforts reflect Zhao’s values to cherish everything.

80-year-old Zhao’s art is characterized by her tough life experiences, having lived through the Nanjing Massacre and the Cultural Revolution. Using regular household items, Zhao transform these pieces by only using other recyclable elements to complement the sculpting process. The original functions of these pieces are lost and instead blossoming into a work of art.
