The 7th edition of 1-54 London returns at Somerset House between the 3-6 October 2019.
This year the fair brings together 45 international galleries, showcasing the works of 140 multidisciplinary artists. The programme includes 1-54 Forum and Special Projects, such as “Mary Sibande: I Came Apart At The Seams“, the artist’s first solo show in UK presented in partnership with Somerset House. Sibande presents a series of photographic and sculptural works exploring the power of imagination and constructive anger in shaping identities and personal narratives in a post-colonial world.
A large-scale installation in the The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court is also presented in partnership with the Kamel Lazaar Foundation (KLF).
1-54 FORUM is curated by Kerryn Greenberg, Head of International Collection Exhibitions at Tate. The programme is dedicated to the Nigerian curator Bisi Silva (1962-2019), founder of the Centre of Contemporary Art (CCA) Lagos who championed women artists and experimental artistic practices.
