Art Basel in Miami Beach 2019: Meridians
Meridians is a new sector that premiering at the 18th edition of the Miami Beach show. Curated by Magalí Arriola (Director of Museo Tamayo, Mexico City) Meridians features 34 large-scale sculptures and paintings, installations, film, and video projections, and live performances in the Miami Beach Convention Center’s (MBCC) new Grand Ballroom.
The artists and works represented in Meridians show a strong focus on the Americas. Alongside works by US artists such as Tina Girouard, Allan McCollum, Fred Wilson, Portia Munson, and Alexis Smith, the sector features works by Luciana Lamothe from Argentina; Artur Lescher from Brazil; Flavio Garciandía and Ana Mendieta from Cuba; José Antonio Suárez Londoño from Colombia; and Jose Dávila, Miguel Calderón, Pepe Mar, and Tercerunquinto from Mexico.
