Featuring artist-led workshops, tours, and other projects, the programme provides access to skills and ideas for UAE-based children and teenagers aged 5-17 with the long-term aim to encourage young people to get involved and excel in the arts.
This year’s programme focuses on three areas:
• Workshops for children
• Discovery Tours of the fair for children and teens, led by international and UAE-based artists.
• Commissioned artist publication
The Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program (SMLAP) 2016 includes the commissioning of London-based artist Polly Brannan, her practice focuses on human interaction within transient spaces.
This year children and families are invited to participate in the Mobile Variety Club at Art Dubai 2016. The programme features sets, props and visuals created by the participating children and families for various acts including; songs, comedy, poetry, puppet shows, dance, quizzes, demonstrations and magic tricks.
Workshops consist of different zones where families and children create their own production skits with the help of the lead and apprentice artists using conversations, negotiations and performance as tools.
Workshops and discovery tours take place during Art Dubai between March 16-19, 2016.
A signup sheet to register children and teens in the programme will be available on this webpage by March 1, 2016.
