Tutone Distillery and Museum

Discover 205 years of very typically Palermitano history at the Tutone Factory Museum in Via Garibaldi and Tutone is an aniseed liquor which is kept it secret recipe safe. The Museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays and is a real insight into a very quintessentially Palermitano brand.

From Giuseppe Tutone, the first founder, seven generations have passed to Ugo Riccardo Tutone. However, the anise remained the same. Refreshing in the summer, diluted in water; it warms in winter, as a ‘corrective’ for coffee.

Figli D’Arte Cuticchios

Mimmo Cuticchio is universally recognised as the main architect of the “rediscovery” of the Opera dei Pupi: born in 1948, when his father Giacomo, a “walking” puppeteer (wanderer) settled in Gela.

The company produces shows and controls all phases, from the embossing of the metals of the armour to the carving of the wood for the bodies, the painting of scenes and signs, the realisation of the costumes, welding three important aspects in his theatrical communication: the recovery of traditional techniques of puppets and ‘del cunto’, research and experimentation.

Since October 1997 he has also run a school for puppeteers, supported by the Municipality of Palermo.

Nanà Aristova Jewels

Nana Aristova Jewels is a contemporary jewelry collection that fuses old jewelry making techniques of the exotic East and modern Italian jewelry making techniques. Timeless yet modern bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings are handcrafted using materials such as 925 silver, gold vermeil and high quality gemstones, our artisans create each piece with love and according to antique techniques, resulting in powerful and unique jewelry.

Nana Aristova’s passion for jewelry is traced back to her childhood and to the discoveries made through traveling around the world. During her childhood she was strongly attracted by jewelry traditions of Scythians (ancient population of Siberia, the country where she was born) and later those of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Later while exploring various jewelry making traditions throughout Asia, she found that the handmade art of the Southeast particularly seduced her. It wasn’t long before she found herself building a team of artisans that hand craft her jewelry line fusing contemporary designs with several ancient techniques.

dueRRuote

dueRRuote is a unique atelier based in Palermo originally inspired by the original décor of traditional Sicilian carts, introducing a reinterpretation of the graphics and colours used on the carts, into patterns for fabrics and for the creation of original Sicilian garments.

The idea derives from the desire to keep this unique art alive, given that the Sicilian cart was the first means of transport built with two wheels.
