The Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia has announced that Vajiko Chachkhiani is the artist selected to represent Georgian Pavilion at the upcoming 57th Venice Art Biennale. The designed project for this Biennale, entitled “A Living Dog in the Midst of Dead Lions” consists of a small, abandoned wooden hut, which as been found in the Georgian Countryside. The hut contains all the objects that could be found in a typical dwelling, such as furnitures, and images of daily use objects.

As the artist stated: “Through my sculptures and installations, I seek to address psychological conditions such as loneliness, violence and angst and to interweave them with topics from religion, politics, literature, and poetry”.
