Title: “Sun & Sea (Marina)”
Commissioners: Dr Rasa Antanavičiūtė and Jean-Baptiste Joly
Curator: Lucia Pietroiusti
Artists: Lina Lapelytė, Vaiva Grainytė, Rugilė Barzdžiukaite
“Sun & Sea (Marina)” is a performative piece set in the interior of a historic quayside building within the Marina Militare, adjacent to the Arsenale,
never previously been used during the Biennale. Presented by Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts, “Sun & Sea (Marina)” consists in an indoor beach, where a group of characters appear as typical holiday-goers who perform in turn sung pieces: visitors observe the scene from a mezzanine gallery above the set. The play, specially adapted for La Biennale di Venezia, aims to draw attention on the most pressing environmental issues of our time.
