The pavilion features an interdisciplinary project titled “A Temporality”, which revolves around the secular and traditional Mongolian practice of throat singing, namely a complex vocalising technique used to communicate with inner selves, surroundings and nature.
Mongolian artist E. Jantsankhorol creates sculptural installations which accompany the sound performance of the German sound artist Carsten Nicolai, alias Alva Noto. Nicolai intervenes together with Mongolian throat singers to translate this ancient mediums of oral expression into a contemporary art form in dialogue with Jantsankhorol‘s sculptures.
