Title: “The Measurement of Presence”
Curator: Benno Tempel
Commissioner: Mondriaan Fund
Artists: Remy Jungerman and Iris Kensmil
Remy Jungerman and Iris Kensmil present new works for the Dutch Pavilion which address the issue of national identity and dig into the history of the country. Jungerman has conceived a new installation inspired by the figures of the ancient ancestors of Dutch tradition while Kensmil’s site-specific project consists of an installation of portraits in a mural painting. This celebrates Black women who have been overlooked in the recent past, such as writers, activists or artists, who stood out in defense of their ideals for a better world.
