Title: “Unfinished Conversations on the Weight of Absence”
Curator: Cristian Nae
Commissioner: Attila Kim
Artists: Belu-Simion Făinaru, Dan Mihălțianu, Miklós Onucsán
The Romanian presentation at 58th International Art Exhibition features three artists whose art installations are exhibited at the national pavilion in Giardini and at The New Gallery of the Romanian Institute for Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice. The three artists present contemporary versions of significant art projects from the 1980s and 1990s, readapted to fit the Venetian context. The pieces, who underwent several conceptual and material transformations over the years, transcend categories of space and time, rejecting the concept of the artwork as a fixed art historical entity. Their redesign aims to address pressing political issues of our times.
