Artist

Priscila Fernandes

Born in Coimbra, 1981 and lives in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Priscila Fernandes is an artist whose work currently focuses on the transmission of knowledge, didactics and the ideologies dictating varying forms of education. Specifically ideologies associated with play, creativity and productivity in contemporary society; buzz words whose contextual meanings often overlap. Fernandes is particularly interested in this conflation of meaning; especially when used as instruments in maintaining cultural norms, social integration and as tools for the construction of the individual and society. She works across a variety of mediums from drawing to sound and video installations.
