Gábor Gerhes

Born in Budapest, 1962 and lives in Budapest and Balatonalmádi

Although Gábor Gerhes works in several media, his primary medium is photography. Since the 1980s he has had solo and group shows at all the major exhibition spaces in Hungary: the Ludwig Museum, the Kunsthalle (Műcsarnok), the National Gallery and the MODEM. He also participated in shows in Paris (Grand Palais, Louvre-Caroussel), Montpellier (FRAC), Brussels (BOZART), Warsaw (Palace Ujazdowsky), London (Anthony Reynolds Gallery), Berlin (Akademie der Künste), Taiwan and the United States of America.
Since 2006 he is guest lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. In 2014, he was awarded the prize of the Hungarian Section of AICA (International Association of Art Critics) for his exhibition Neue Ordnung displayed at the Trafó Gallery, Budapest. His works are included in many Hungarian and foreign collections like the H. Ringier Collection, the collection of the Stiftung DZ Bank AG in Frankfurt am Main, the Hungarian National Gallery and Ludwig Museum Budapest.
