Ferenc Gróf

Born in Pécs, 1972 and lives in Paris

Based in Paris since 2001, Ferenc Gróf studied at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where he graduated at the Intermedia department in 2001. His first solo exhibition in 2002 opened in Stúdió Gallery Budapest, entitled Franz-Joseph-Land. As a founding member of Société Réaliste, from 2004 he had not produced any independent works for more than 10 years. Société Réaliste exhibited at numerous international institutions and biennials e. g. in the New Museum, New York, and Kunsthalle Wien (both 2014), ZKM Karlsruhe (2013), Kadist Art Foundation, Paris (2012), the 2nd Rennes Biennial (2010), the 10th Lyon Biennial, the 11th Istanbul Biennial, and the 2nd Athens Biennial (all in 2009), Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (2008), and in 2008-2009 was granted a research sholarship at Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. The exhibition series empire, state, building (2011-2012) which was shown in the halls of Jeu de Paume, Paris, Ludwig Museum, Budapest, and MNAC, Bucharest, summarized their work. Since 2012 Ferenc Gróf is an art professor at the École Nationale Supérieur d’Art, Bourges.
