Jeewi Lee

Born in Seoul, 1987 and lives in Berlin and Seoul

In her site-specific room installations, actions and image series Jeewi Lee works with performative and daily occurrences, which come into view as traces and serve Lee as painterly element. For Lee traces concurrently indicate movement (in urban as well as in exhibition spaces) as well as the reflection of production process. In her work Lee looks into and highlights social and historical events that have been burnt into various materials. Lee has studied painting at Universität der Künste, Berlin and Hunter College University, New York. She currently works and lives in Florence as part of the Villa Romana award which she received in 2018.
