Born in Argentina in 1941, Liliana Porter currently lives and works in New York since 1964, where she also was a professor at Queens College (CUNY) until 2007. Liliana Porter develops her practice across different mediums including printmaking, painting, drawing, photography, video, installation, theater, and public art. Being showcased in more than 35 countries and over 450 group shows, Porter’s works are included in many public and private collections, gaining reviews in Artforum, Art in America, and Sculpture Magazine, among others. The artist is represented by many galleries as Ruth Benzacar (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Barbara Krakow Gallery (Boston, MA), Sicardi Gallery (Houston, TX), Luciana Brito Galeria (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Galeria Espacio Minimo (Madrid, Spain) and Hosfelt Gallery (San Francisco, CA).
Co-founder of the New York Graphic Workshop with artists Luis Camnitzer and Jose Guillermo Castillo, Porter has been recognized with a 1980 Guggenheim Fellowship, three New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship (1985, 1996, 1999), the Mid Atlantic/NEA Regional Fellowship (1994), and seven PSC- CUNY research awards (from 1994 to 2004).
